Analyst ratings are a useful sentiment gauge, not a crystal ball. A wall of "buy" ratings can mean genuine conviction - or a crowded trade that has little room left to surprise. The most information often sits in the changes: an upgrade or downgrade, or a moved price target, is a fresh opinion, while a long-standing rating is old news. Compare the consensus price target to where the stock trades now to see how much upside the Street is modelling, and watch when several firms move the same way at once. Ratings here are aggregated across covering analysts and update as new notes are published.
