Every gain looks easy in hindsight - the drawdowns are what you actually had to survive. Quantora maps a stock's entire underwater curve, ranks its worst peak-to-trough crashes, and tells you exactly how long each one took to make back. Five years of daily closes, computed live.
A drawdown is the percentage fall from a prior all-time high (over the sample window) until that high is reclaimed. Depth is peak-to-trough; recovery is trough back to the old high. The Ulcer Index is the root-mean-square of the daily drawdown - a measure of downside "pain" that, unlike volatility, only penalizes losses. Based on split-adjusted daily closes over roughly the last five years. Educational only - not investment advice.
